Head of Department

 

Since its inception, the department is headed by one of the leading specialists - cardiologists, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Viktor Korniyovych Tashchuk, a  graduate of Chernivtsi Medical Institute in 1983, who passed the stages of clinical residency, post-graduate and doctoral studies in the heart of Ukrainian cardiology - National Scientific Center "M.D. Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology "He defended his dissertation in 1988  - "Clinical and functional diagnosis of unstable angina, evaluation of the effectiveness of obzidan" and in 1992 -  doctoral dissertation  "Clinical and morphofunctional determinants of restabilization of acute forms of coronary heart disease with long-term follow-up." He has experience as a cardiologist, cardio resuscitator and functionalist of the National Scientific Center "M.D. Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology". He is a cardiologist of the highest qualification degree.

          Prof. VK Tashchuk's research interests are related to clinical-functional, morphofunctional, homeostasis and chronobiological studies in cardiology, which are represented in the monograph "Medical and biological problems of emergency cardiology", "Basis of electrocardiography", manual in cardiology for foreign students, monograph of functional diagnostics, textbook Electrocardiography. Basis of diagnostics" and "Handbook of Cardiology for foreign students", monograph" Acute coronary syndrome: diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation", "Clinical and functional methods of cardiovascular research", "Cardiovascular complications in patients with chronic kidney disease", "Acute myocardial infarction. Complications", "Register studies of small towns of Ukraine: diagnosis, treatment", "Electrocardiography. Fundamentals of Diagnosis", textbook "Examples of formulating of therapeutic diagnoses", English-language publications – monograph "Basic of ECG" and textbook  "Understanding of  ECG", with the permission of the Commission on Medicine of the Scientific and Methodological Council of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, presented in the literature - more than 27 patents and 1,070 publications, of which about 150 are in English, are the are in English, are the supervisor of 25 scientific papers, of which 2 doctoral and 23 candidate dissertations have been defended. He was the head of training of 35 clinical residents, trained 11 masters of medicine, 10 graduate students, 1 doctoral student.

Prof. VK Tashchuk is a member of the Academic Council of Bukovinian State Medical University, chairman of the subject-methodical commission on internal medicine, dean of the faculty of pedagogical skills of BSMU, editor-in-chief of the journal "Bukovinian Medical Herald", member of the Specialized Academic Council at Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University, member of the European Union of Cardiologists, European Association for Heart Failure, Working Group on Acute Coronary Syndrome and Cardiac Arrhythmias of the Association of Cardiologists of Ukraine, co-chair of the Bukovinian branch of the Association of Cardiologists of Ukraine, chairman of the Bukovinian, "Association of Heart Failure of Ukraine" (Deputy Chairman), "Association of Researchers of Ukraine", is a member of editorial boards and editorial boards of journals: "Bukovynian Medical Herald", "Prykarpattya Herald NTSh", "Hist", "Cardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology", "Therapia". "Ukrainian Medical Herald", "Arrhythmology", "Ukrainian Journal of Cardiology",  Joint Ukrainian-Romanian scientific journal "Current issues of social sciences and history of medicine".

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Bukovinian State Medical Academy, he was entered in the Book of Honor of the Academy (2000), is a laureate of the award named by V. Zalozetsky (2000), awarded the medal of Acad. M.D. Strazheska "For Merits in Health Care" (2000), Diploma of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (2002, 2009), Diploma of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration and Chernivtsi Regional Council (2003, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012 , 2016), on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his birth and 30th anniversary of work in medicine, he was congratulated by the Minister of Health of Ukraine (2010), he obtained the medal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine "For Assistance to Internal Affairs of Ukraine" (2010), he awarded the medal For Merits" of the Association of Cardiologists of Ukraine (2013).

According to the decree of the President of Ukraine № 445 of June 16, 2009 conferred the honorary title of "Honored Doctor of Ukraine". According to the results of work during the XIV National Congress of Cardiologists of Ukraine (2013) dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Association of Cardiologists of Ukraine, he was represented by doctors of Chernivtsi region in the book "Profession - Cardiologist", dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Association of Cardiologists.  According to the decree of the President of Ukraine № 658/2013 (December 2, 2013) "On the appointment of state scholarships to outstanding health care workers" he was awarded a state scholarship for two years as an outstanding health care worker.

 

  

Staff of the department

Today the staff of the Department of Internal Medicine, Physical Rehabilitation and Sport Medicine consists of 12 cardiologists, therapists and exercise therapy specialists, including the head of the department, Professor VK Tashchuk , MD, Professor OS Polyanska, Associate Professor, Ph.D. O.Yu. Polishchuk , Associate Professor, Ph.D. SI Grechko,  Associate Professor, Ph.D. PR Ivanchuk,  Associate Professor, Ph.D. TM Amelina,  Associate Professor, Ph.D.  G.I. Khrebtiy,  Associate Professor,  Ph.D. IT Rusnak,  Associate Professor, Ph.D. OM Gingulyak,  Associate Professor, Ph.D. Al Salama Muhammad Wasek Obeid, laboratory assistant   M.G. Migay,  laboratory assistant K.K. Luptovich.

Pedagogical and medical work of the department is performed on the basis of one of the best medical institutions of Chernivtsi region - Regional Clinical Cardiology Center, in particular, departments of cardioresuscitation (12 beds), acute coronary failure (40 beds), chronic coronary heart disease (60 beds), hypertension (60 beds), rehabilitation of myocardial infarction (40 beds), functional diagnostics, as well as in the department of functional diagnostics of the Regional Consultative Diagnostic Center and the departments of the Regional Dispensary of Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy.

 

History

A significant event in the scientific life of the cardiology community of Bukovina was the creation of two medical institutions - the regional cardiology dispensary and the regional consultative diagnostic center of the Department of Cardiology and Functional Diagnostics in October 1994.

 

Such outstanding scientists as professor, doctor of medical sciences VK Tashchuk, professor, doctor of medical sciences IK Vladkovsky, doctor of medical sciences, associate professor SV Biletsky, and candidate of medical sciences OS Polyanska started to work at the department. OYu Polishchuk (later Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine, Physical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, Head of the Medical and Psychological Center, Chief Freelance Specialist of the Department of Health and Civil Protection in Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy) began his work as assistants), IO Makoviychuk (later the chief  of Regional Clinical Cardiology Centre, Chief Freelance Specialist of the Department of Health and Civil Protection in Cardiology, Candidate of Medical Science). SI Grechko (later   associate professor of the department of  internal medicine, physical rehabilitation and sports medicine, candidate of medical science, executive secretary of the state examination commission of Bukovinian State Medical University, responsible for the educational process of the department).

Later, the department included Professor MG Trinyak, assistant LP Sidorchuk (later Professor of the department of Family Medicine, Doctor of Medical Sciences).

 

A scientific group of senior laboratory assistants - graduates of the Bukovinian State Medical Academy - OV Mudry, II Ilashchuk, IV Melnytsky, PR Ivanchuk , a graduate of Chernivtsi National University named after Y. Fedkovych - VG Vysotska, who, have completed an internship at the department, now occupy prominent positions in scientific and practical medical institutions.

In the future, the composition of the department changed - Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences SV Biletsky began the head to the Department of Family Medicine. But the next generation of such scientists as assistant TO Kulik (Ilashchuk) came to the teaching staff. Today, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences TO Ilashchuk heads the Department of Propaedeutics of Bukovinian State Medical University.

During its existence, the Department of Cardiology and Functional Diagnostics was established on October 1, 1994 on the basis of two medical institutions - the Regional Cardiological Dispensary and the Regional Consultative Diagnostic Center, and has repeatedly changed its name.

In 1995, the department was renamed the Department of Hospital Therapy №2 Bukovinian State Medical Academy, and in 1997 the department joined the course of physical therapy and sport medicine. Since 2000, the name of the department has been changed to "hospital therapy, physical therapy and sport medicine", and since 2002 the course of physical therapy and sports medicine is separated from the department of hospital therapy №2 and from 2002/2003 academic year - "Department of Cardiology and functional diagnostics".

 

 

          Since 2009 the department has been transformed and acquires the name of internal medicine, physical rehabilitation and sports medicine of Bukovinian State Medical University, since 2010 it is joined the course of physical education.

          The real luminary of the Chernivtsi Therapeutic School was Professor IK Vladkovsky, who worked as the head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Medicine from 1979 to 1991, then from 1991 to 1993 Professor of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Medicine, and from 1994 - Professor of Hospital Therapy № 2 and exercise therapy - then from 2002 to 2008 - Professor of Cardiology, Functional Diagnostics, Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine. He defended his dissertation in 1957 on the topic: "Neurological symptoms of hypertension and some issues of the pathogenesis of hypertension". The doctoral dissertation was defended in 1971 on the topic: "About the pathogenesis of some nervous and endocrine disorders in the cerebrocardial form of hypertension in a period without acute disorders of cerebral and coronary circulation", the title of professor was awarded in 1978.

 

 

Professor of Cardiology and Functional Diagnostics

I.K. Vladkovsky

           The scientific activity of Professor IK Vladkovsky is devoted to the study of various links in the pathogenesis, clinic and treatment of hypertension with the introduction of a new concept of autonomous central regulation of cerebral circulation, as well as the role of its dysfunction in the pathogenesis of hypertensive crises and strokes. Under the leadership of Professor IK Vladkovsky in 1980 began studying the features of the volume-regulating function of the kidneys in patients with hypertension, coronary heart disease, menopausal neurosis according to the definition in the fluids of natriuretic hormone and other pressor and depressant hormones; energy-plastic properties of erythrocytes in comparison with indicators of central and regional hemodynamics. IK Vladkovsky is the author of 140 scientific papers, 5 inventions, 30 innovation proposals. Under his supervision 4 candidate and 2 doctoral dissertations were completed. IK Vladkovsky was awarded the badge "Excellence in Higher Education", the medal "Veteran of Labor", many diplomas and thanks.

 

         

  Professor of the Department TO Ilashchuk began her research activity at the department from the ranks of the student group, passed the stages of master's, postgraduate and doctoral studies. In 2008 she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Acute myocardial infarction complicated by acute left ventricular failure: clinical, pathogenetic and chronobiological determinants, the results of long-term follow-up and medical correction". Scientific research of Professor TO Ilashchuk is devoted to the optimization of treatment tactics in patients with acute myocardial infarction and chronic forms of coronary heart disease, the number of scientific papers - more than 156, 1 monograph, 3 manuals, 4 inventions.    TO Ilashchuk underwent an internship in cardiac clinics in Utah (USA). Currently, Tetyana Oleksandrivna Ilashchuk is the head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Medicine of the BSMU.

Educational work

 

During the educational process, modern teaching methods are actively used, including the use of multimedia presentations of practical classes and lectures, the use of a computer program for teaching and control of the level of knowledge developed by the staff of the department.

Since 2002 on the basis of the Department of Internal Medicine, Physical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine there are courses of thematic improvement in cardiology, functional diagnostics, since 2003 pre-certification training courses for general practitioners have been organised and regularly held. Scientific plan and programme are constantly updated. The manuals and monographs were published by the department reflect the long-term pedagogical experience of the staff of the department, rich experience of diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive work.

 

Students of the advanced training cycle with their teacher’s prof. V.K. Tashchuk, prof. I.K. Vladkovsky and Associate Professor O.Yu. Polishchuk.

 

Students are present during performing research that is performed for diagnostic, scientific and therapeutic purposes, take an active part in scientific-practical and pathological conferences. The contingent of patients fully meets the requirements for the quality of the educational process in the cycles of specialization and thematic improvement for cardiologists.

The department is constantly conducting educational and methodological work on the development and implementation of new manuals, as well as new interactive forms of teaching. Also at the department there is experience in the field of such new, currently developing educational forms as distance learning.

Work experience of teachers in a higher educational institution include from 3 to 30 years. Teachers of the department improved their pedagogical qualification by taking courses at the faculty of advanced training of teachers of the National Medical University by  OO Bogomolets, National Academy of Postgraduate Education by PL Shupyk, to attend lectures, practical and seminar classes and further discussion at department`s  meetings, to attend intermittent courses on pedagogical training, take part in the work of the faculty of advanced training of Bukovinian State Medical Academy, regional therapeutic and cardiological societies, Bukovinian Association of Therapeutic by VH Vasylenko, the school of the young teacher of BSMU, the association of internists of Ukraine, the school of cardiologists named after MD Strazheska, as well as engaged in individual work on special medical and pedagogical literature, including active use of the Internet.

The department has trained 35 clinical residents for practical health care.

Therapeutic work

 

Therapeutic work is carried out in inpatient departments and consulting clinic of the department. The state of health and the course of the disease of complex patients are analyzed during the visits of professors, associate professors. The department is connected with local health authorities, chief specialists of the region, chief physicians of central district hospitals and Chernivtsi. Members of the department take an active part in the preparation of methodological and regulatory documents of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

          To ensure educational, medical and scientific processes at the Department of Internal Medicine, Physical Rehabilitation and Sport Medicine, modern diagnostic tools are used: electrocardiographs, bicycle ergometers, treadmills, cardio-resuscitation complex (ECG monitoring, blood pressure, defibrillator, pacemaker), Holter , echocardiograph.
